SoundToys created Decapitator by tracking and emulating the real dynamics of vintage gear - no static convolution here. That's why Decapitator Native lets you add anything from subtle odd harmonics to glowing even harmonics to your sound. Select from five different saturation modes and add spice to your bass, turn up the heat on your guitars and vocals, and beef up your kick drums. And when you want to unleash pure brutality, just punch in the Punishment button.
It is available as part of the SoundToys 5 bundle or as seperate plugin download.
Have you tried Pyro (repackaged Abuser) for distortion? I've tried all the Arturia ones + others...and didnt think they were really close. It's a nice $45 alternative to Decapitator. Has a cool drop down feature to swap out the "shaper cards"...I've highlighted it.
...top of my head that has only a saturation knob, or i use it just for that purpose. How is decapitator different? It has selectable modes and you can drive it to colour your sound. Is it because it's black and all manly? So it's not for "Kids"? What is this "kids" thing anyway? Only...
...doesn't work because the ECCO test tones come from VSX itself. Hears would not receive any signal. You could place Decapitator before VSX while doing ECCO and have the same effect ;-) EDIT: I was wrong, it doesn't matter where we place Hears. See highvoltage's posts!
