RME tells us their new ADI-2 FS 2-Channel Converter is being launched at IBC 2018. Here's the official press release for this AD/DA converter.
A compact and flexible 2-channel AD/DA and format converter, the ADI-2 FS offers high-end analogue audio conversion to and from SPDIF, AES and ADAT, at sample rates up to 192 kHz. The three digital connections provide compatibility with a wide range of professional and consumer audio devices, with options for both SPDIF/ADAT optical I/O, and SPDIF/ AES-EBU coaxial I/O.
...you're serious about that for feeding of chain, I'd really consider adding of another converter there.. like ADI-2 DAC or ADI-2 FS and hook it via AES to your main converter/interface. Michal
Have em love em, even got to really using all 20 channels since I can go out to my Neumann setup through AES and my Adi-2 FS converter through spdif.
I recently switched from an Apollo to a digiface with adi-2 fs and ferrofish pulse 8 with external preamps and it’s great, but I got the feeling that OP was looking for more of a single box solution. Never had any problems with the Apollo btw. Really happy with the rme setup though....
