A Drum Replacement plugin is a tool to help an audio engineer replace the recorded drum signals with a ‘triggered’ drum sample. This is most often done to create more consistent drum sounds from live played kick, snare and toms. A drummer's sound can be changed by using different drum samples. If the snare sounds weak and is hit softly, a harder drum hit sample can be used to replace it. The final result is often a blend of the original drums and the new drum replaced drums.
