Condenser microphones capsules are manufactured with an extremely low mass diaphragm in order to accurately follow sound waves movements, providing more detailed sound therefore preferable during studio sessions. There are two main types of condenser microphones: small diaphragm condensers (SDCs) and large diaphragm condensers (LDCs). Large diaphragm condensers provide full-range frequency response, smooth transient response and are usually applied on seamless any recording studio session. They’re known to be excellent vocals for microphones, but can also capture any other instrument with excellence. The small diaphragm condenser variant is known for its rapid transient response, brighter sound and often sold as matched pairs and used while capturing fast attack instruments such as drums overheads.
